PLANNING SECTION
Detailed Description:
The Lamb Scramble will take place inside a rodeo arena utilizing existing chutes and livestock handling facilities.
Firefighter Division:
Firefighters will compete in teams of 2–5 members and will be required to wear full PPE (helmet, coat, pants, gloves, and boots).
At the start signal, 3–5 sheep/lambs will be released simultaneously from the chute into the arena. Two teams will enter the arena at the same time and attempt to catch and halter an animal.
Each team must:

Select one sheep/lamb

Safely catch the animal
-
Place a halter onto the sheep while wearing full PPE (including gloves)
The first team to successfully halter one sheep will be declared the winner. Once a team has completed the task, they must exit the arena and may not interfere with the remaining team.
Time Limit: 4–5 minutes per round
Children’s Division:
Children will compete in three age groups:

Ages 3–7

Ages 8–13
-
Ages 14–17
Each group will use size-appropriate lambs for safety. At the start signal, multiple sheep/lambs will be released into the arena along with multiple participants.
Ages 3–7 (Junior Division):

Multiple lambs will be released with a group of children

Each child will attempt to catch a lamb independently

Any child who successfully catches a lamb will receive a ribbon/prize
This division is intended to focus on participation and a positive FUN experience.
Time Limit: 2 minutes per round
Ages 8–13:
Two formats may be used depending on participation:

Open Scramble Format: Multiple lambs released; children attempt to catch and halter one independently

One trophy will be given for this age group

Ages 14–17:
This division will follow the same general concept as the 8–13 group, using larger or more appropriate-sized sheep/lambs as needed.

OPERATIONS SECTION
Group Supervisor
Reports to the: Operations Section Chief
Overview:
Manages all tactical resources within a specific geographic division or functional group. They are responsible for implementing the Incident Action Plan (IAP), ensuring safety, directing tactical operations, and coordinating with adjacent teams
Firefighters Games Task Force Leader
Overview:
A Task Force Leader (TFLD) manages personnel, crews, and equipment to execute tactical missions within an Incident Command System (ICS) structure, typically reporting to a Division/Group Supervisor. They ensure safety, direct operations, manage resources, and provide situation updates during incidents like wildland fires, urban disasters, or events.
Core Responsibilities:
Ensure all Game crew bosses are ready for the time slotted for their games and all logistical items are ready.
Tactical Operations: Develop and implement tactical action plans to meet objectives, managing tasks from activation to demobilization.
Supervision: Lead personnel and equipment resources (e.g., search, rescue, medical, logistics) efficiently.
Safety & Communication: Maintain situational awareness, ensure safety protocols, and communicate with adjacent forces, supervisors, and personnel.
Firefighter Obstacle/Game Course Crew Boss
Job Description Overview:
The Firefighter Game Boss is responsible for organizing, leading, and supervising interactive firefighter-themed activities. This role ensures participants have a fun, safe, and engaging experience while learning teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Responsible for the logistics and execution of physical firefighter-style obstacle challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and manage obstacle course layout
- Ensure equipment is safe and properly maintained
- Supervise participants during physically demanding tasks
- Coordinate with other staff for smooth event flow
- Lead and facilitate firefighter-style challenge games and obstacle courses
- Brief participants on rules, objectives, and safety procedures
- Demonstrate proper techniques for each activity
- Monitor participants to ensure safety and fair play
- Motivate and energize groups throughout the event
- Set up and break down equipment and game stations
- Adapt activities for different age groups and skill levels
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience with event operations or sports coordination
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage groups in high-energy environments
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures and risk management
- Experience in coaching, training, or event facilitation (preferred)
